This exhibition brings those hidden treasures into the light. Local people across Dorset—young, old, and everyone in between—have generously shared the objects they hold dear, along with the stories behind them.
“It means so much to me that I just can’t let it go” Discover heartfelt stories behind a collection of cherished keepsakes, shared by local people.
We all have those small, irreplaceable objects we can’t quite give away—the ones tucked in lofts, drawers, and forgotten corners until we stumble on them and feel a rush of memory, emotion, and connection. Though they may hold little monetary value, they carry the weight of our stories.
And yet, when we’re gone, these precious keepsakes often lose their meaning in the hands of others.
Sometimes sentimental, sometimes funny, and sometimes deeply moving, these recorded, written, and filmed memories invite you to reflect on your own cherished keepsakes and the memories behind them.
We will also be exhibiting artworks on the theme of “Heartfelt” by Artwey members.
Find the exhibition at Nothe Fort’s fascinating underground level. Entry to this exhibition is included free with your admission ticket or annual pass.
This showcase marks the final chapter of Artwey’s Crossing Different Paths project, created in support of Weymouth and Portland’s Towns of Culture events. With thanks to Weymouth Town Council and Dorset County Council for their generous support.
