One year ago, WeyPort was just an idea.

A simple one.
Make it easier for people to find out what is actually happening across Weymouth and Portland.

Fast forward a year, and it has grown into something the community is using every day.

From 0 to 7,000 Followers

In just 12 months, WeyPort has grown from nothing to nearly 7,000 followers across social media, with website visits increasing week on week.

More importantly, more people are discovering local events, turning up, and supporting what is happening on their doorstep.

That is what this was always about.

Built by the Community

WeyPort is not a top down listings site. It works because of the people who use it.

Every event added
Every share
Every tag
Every person who turns up to something they found online

That is what makes the platform work.

If you have ever added an event, told a friend about it, or used WeyPort to plan your week or weekend, you have been part of building this.

Supporting Local Events and Venues

Over the past year, WeyPort has helped shine a light on:

  • Live music and gigs across Weymouth and Portland
  • Festivals, markets and special events
  • Community activities and social groups
  • Family friendly days out and experiences

There is so much happening locally. WeyPort just helps people find it.

Thank You to Weymouth Town Council

WeyPort would not exist without the initial support from Weymouth Town Council, who funded the creation of the platform and helped bring the idea to life.

That early backing made it possible to build something for the whole community to use.

Why It Matters

Too often, great events go unseen.

Not because they are not good.
Not because people would not go.
But because people simply do not know they are happening.

WeyPort exists to change that.

By bringing everything together in one place, it makes it easier for people to discover, plan, and support local.

Year Two Starts Now

This is just the beginning.

The aim for year two is simple:
More events. More users. More people getting out and enjoying what is on locally.

If you are running something, add it to the site.
If you are looking for something to do, go and have a browse.

Something Good is Happening

One year in, it is clear that Weymouth and Portland are full of energy, creativity, and community.

WeyPort is just the place that brings it together.

Something good is happening. And it is only getting started.
