Some weeks have a habit of sneaking up on you.

You think it’s going to be a fairly ordinary few days, then suddenly there’s a fairy garden workshop on Monday, a crochet club on Wednesday, a charity bingo night on Thursday, and live music spilling into Friday evening.

That is very much the case this week across Weymouth and Portland.

If you’ve been meaning to get out of the house, try somewhere new, or simply remind yourself that there is actually plenty going on locally, here are a few WeyPort Weekday Picks for Monday 30 March to Friday 3 April.

What’s On This Week in Weymouth & Portland

This week’s mix includes creative workshops, exhibitions, family events, quizzes, live music and Easter activities, with something happening pretty much every day.

Whether you fancy a relaxed evening, something for the kids, or a reason to meet up with friends midweek, there’s a good spread of events across the area.

Monday 30 March

Monday gets off to a surprisingly lively start with a mix of creative, social and outdoorsy things to do.

Fairy Garden Workshop – Sunnyside Studio

A lovely crafty option to start the week, especially if you enjoy making things or want something a bit whimsical.

Waggy Walks with Freddie – Portland Marina

Fresh air, sea views and dogs. Hard to argue with that.

Jamie’s Jam Sesh – The Kings Arms

A relaxed way to ease into the week if live music and local sessions are more your speed.

Interactive Quiz – Spice Ship

For anyone who likes a bit of friendly competition and a pub table full of answer sheets.

Tuesday 31 March

Tuesday leans more creative, with a nice mix of hands-on fun and local culture.

Spring Slime Making Session – Sunnyside Studio

A good family-friendly pick if you’re looking for something playful and messy in the best possible way.

Portland – A Photography Exhibition by Atlantic Academy – b-side

A chance to see Portland through a different lens and support local creative work at the same time.

Wednesday 1 April

Midweek is looking especially varied, with everything from crochet to musical theatre.

Crochet Club – Mumma Bee’s Cafe

A quieter, more social sort of evening for anyone who likes making things and chatting while they do it.

Easter Craft Event – Portland Museum

A lovely seasonal option if you’re after something creative and family-friendly.

WOW Presents Legally Blonde – Weymouth Pavilion

If you’re in the mood for something bigger and brighter, this is your midweek showstopper.

Thursday 2 April

Thursday has a slightly chaotic energy in the best way.

Bouncy Castle Kingdom – Weymouth & Portland Rugby Football Club

An easy crowd-pleaser for families with younger children and plenty of energy to burn.

Charity Bingo Night in Support of STEPS Club for Young People – Centenary Club

A nice chance to support a good cause while enjoying a classic local night out.

Now That’s What I Call A Music Quiz! – The Tin Cat

One for the people who know all the words but none of the artist names. Or vice versa.

Friday 3 April

By Friday, things properly open up.

There’s a strong mix of Easter events, food, music and community gatherings, so whether you want something family-friendly, reflective, social or just a bit noisy, there’s a fair chance you’ll find it.

Vintage Boss Weekender – Centenary Club

A fun start to the weekend with a bit of throwback energy.

Easter Egg Trail – The Upwey Wishing Well

A seasonal favourite and a good excuse to get out and about.

Food Fair – Abbotsbury Swannery

A lovely one if your ideal outing involves wandering and snacks. Organised by Dorset Food & Drink.

Portland Passion Play – Easton Gardens

A community event with a very different feel to the rest of the week’s picks.

Good Friday DJ and Fish Fry! – Chesil Beach Cafe

A strong contender if your Friday plans involve food, sea air and a soundtrack.

Live Music Across the Area

There’s also plenty of live music happening on Friday night, including:

  • Stacey Lou at Turks Head Inn
  • Moroi Gypsies at The Royal Portland Arms
  • Moon Dog at Hardy’s Hophouse
  • The 144s at Finns
  • The Leggomen at The Nook Cocktail Club

A Good Week to Make Plans

What WeyPort always seems to reveal is that there’s usually more going on than people realise.

Not every event is huge. Not everything needs to be booked weeks in advance. Sometimes it’s just a matter of knowing what’s on, where, and deciding to head out for an hour or two.

This week has a bit of everything:
crafts, conversation, exhibitions, theatre, family events, Easter activities, quizzes and music.

So if you’ve been waiting for a sign to actually do something this week, this might be it.
