Come and join us for a fascinating talk about the ancient people of Iron Age Portland with archaeologist and Bournemouth University researcher Andrea Frankham-Hughes.
Portland has a rich history hidden deep in time, but development means that much of our evidence for the prehistoric people of the Island is sadly lost.
From a young woman buried cradling a chicken to a Roman cat, he talk reveals new insights into her research of the 17 burials and rare Iron Age features found in the 2006 excavations at Weston playing fields by AC Archaeology.
Andrea will also exhibit finds from the site and her ‘Stitching the Dead’ research embroideries inspired by the Portland Dress project.
