About this event

Step back in time this February half-term and discover Weymouth’s fascinating role during the Second World War at historic Nothe Fort. From Saturday 14 to Sunday 22 February, the Fort opens its doors daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm for an immersive family-friendly event packed with hands-on activities and interactive experiences.

Whether you’re curious about military life or want to try something different this holiday, there’s plenty to keep every age entertained. Collect wartime job stamps as you complete challenges and learn about key roles that shaped life on the home front and battlefield.

What’s On During the Week

Join in with a variety of themed activities inspired by real WW2 duties, including:

  • Soldier Training – Experience basic drill instruction and learn marching skills.

  • Junior Assault Course – Test your agility on an obstacle course based on wartime training exercises.

  • Plane Spotting Game – Play “Friend or Foe” and see if you can identify aircraft.

  • Dispatch Rider Challenge – Try your hand at riding like a WW2 motorcycle messenger.

  • Anti-Aircraft and Machine Gun Stations – Step into defender roles and see how these vital jobs helped protect the skies.

  • Make & Do Crafting – Get creative with crafts like making binoculars to use around the Fort.

  • Signal and Communications Tasks – Discover how messages were sent and received using period equipment.

  • Mouse Hunt – Keep an eye out for hidden themed characters around the site.

More activities will be announced as the event draws closer, adding even more opportunities for fun and learning.
